Community First Services and Supports (CFSS) Steps for Success workshop

Steps for Success is a three-day workshop offered to CFSS agency staff to meet the PCA/CFSS provider agency training requirements when enrolling or maintaining enrollment with Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP). MHCP provides these training sessions to agency staff via webinar.

Steps for Success is required for the following individuals of non-Medicare-certified and Medicare-certified CFSS provider organizations providing CFSS:

Owners (directly or indirectly involved in the day-to-day operations of the CFSS business)
Managing employees (directly or indirectly involved in the day-to-day operations of the CFSS business)

Participants who wish to attend the CFSS Steps for Success workshop must pass the CFSS Steps for Success Pre-test before registering for a CFSS Steps for Success workshop.

Participants must attend all three days and be in attendance from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day to receive a Steps for Success certificate.

We will send an email with the link to join the online training the week before the start date of the workshop. If you do not receive this email or have any issues connecting the day of the training, call the MHCP Provider Resource Center. Do not wait until the start of class to verify you received the email or have connection issues as you may not receive a link to the workshop at that time and will not get a certificate for attending. A certificate is needed to enroll your agency with MHCP.

CFSS Weekly Questions and Answers Sessions

Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) offers weekly CFSS questions and answers sessions with live instructors. We will answer questions about the Community First Services and Supports program in a group setting. We will not answer questions that include provider identifying information. We will answer questions in the order they are received using a live demonstration whenever possible.

CFSS Provider questions and answers session are held weekly on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon using Microsoft Teams. Click the following link to join the online meeting. There is no fee or registration required for these sessions and the link to join is the same every week.

Dates, location and webinar details
MHCP will schedule additional dates as they become available. After a workshop session fills, MHCP will remove it as a selection from the online registration system. Unfilled workshop sessions close at 8 a.m. seven business days before the workshop begins. The CFSS Steps for Success workshop will be online only.

Webinar information

We will send an email invitation the week before the training date containing the Webinar links to attend the trainings.

Participants will:
- Connect to the webinar from their own computers and do not need special hardware or software.
- Communicate with the presenters and others in the audience using the chat feature available as part of the webinar.
Participants need the following to attend the webinar sessions:
- Internet access
- Speakers or a headset
If the person receiving the email is unable to participate in the webinar, that person must forward their email invitation to the person attending in their place. Instruct the person who will be attending to use the original name and email address the invitation was sent to when logging into the session.
Registration and cost

First, pass the CFSS Steps for Success Pre-test before registering for a CFSS Steps for Success workshop.

After you have passed the CFSS SFS Pre-Test, then you can Register online for the CFSS SFS workshop. You will select CFSS as the service. The training drop-down list will allow you to select CFSS Steps for Success.

You must pay the fee at the time of registration. The cost is $95 per person.

CFSS provider agencies must register and pay for each participant to attend (owners, managers or supervising employees). You must wait for the person’s name to display in the drop-down information for the agency to ensure the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has processed the person’s information to the CFSS agency record on file. If DHS does not receive payment for each person during registration, the person will not receive an email invitation for the CFSS Steps for Success workshop and will not be registered.

Review your registration information carefully and record the email address used at the time of registration.

Refunds will not be issued. Registrants unable to attend may send another owner or managing employee in their place.

After you have paid and registered, we will send an email invitation the week before the training date containing the Webinar links to attend the trainings.
Documentation of completion

MHCP provides a certificate of completion for the full three-day CFSS Steps for Success workshop.

We send the certificates to the email address of the contact person entered at the time of registration. Please allow up to six weeks for certificates to be sent. We will post a message on the MHCP provider news and updates webpage when the certificates are sent.

Agencies are responsible for retaining a copy of the certificate for their records. MHCP will not reproduce lost certificates.
