The meetings below are dates and recordings from past Governor’s Council for an Age-Friendly Minnesota. In developing the action plan, the council gathered input from consumers, stakeholders and valued partners. Planned events were some of the ways the council gathered input. The Council is chaired by the Minnesota Board on Aging and comprised of 15 appointed members.
Working Session: Age-Friendly MN Council Meeting
Date: July 10, 2024, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Focus: This working session meeting focused on issues of emergency preparedness and the programmatic and resource needs for Minnesota emergency services. Fire Chiefs representing diverse communities across Minnesota, including Fire Chief Gary Hendrickson (Dayton), Fire Chief Shawn Krizaj (Duluth), Fire Chief/ Emergency Manger Dale Specken (Hopkins), and Fire Chief Jeff Wallin (Moorhead) joined Amy Lucht, Age Friendly Community Grantee and President/ CEO of Care Resource Connections to brief Council Members on the current environment and how program and systematic changes are needed to enhance education about resources and community connections for older adults and vulnerable populations in Minnesota. Care Resource Connection discussed its programs which are being adopted by emergency services, medical providers and communities across the State (and North Dakota) and showing dramatic reductions in non-emergency calls to EMS.
