In 2023, Permanency Support unit staff will hold regional permanency trainings. Each regional training will be in person; space will be limited to the room size at each location.
The structure of each regional training is as follows:
• Morning session: The Minnesota Assessment of Parenting for Children and Youth (MAPCY) and the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) process
• Afternoon session: Northstar Adoption Assistance and Northstar Kinship Assistance, including a review of the differences between the two programs, submission of an adoption placement agreement to DHS, eligibility determinations, and benefit agreements.
Registration is now open through the MN Child Welfare Training Academy website, for the following dates and locations:
• August 9, 2023 at the Northwest Regional Learning Center (Detroit Lakes)
• September 13, 2023, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Law Enforcement Center (Marshall)
Save the dates for the following Permanency Regional Trainings (registration available soon).
• Oct. 4, 2023 – Northeast Regional Training Center (Duluth)
• Nov. 15, 2023 – Carver County Health Human Services (Chaska)
Audience: This course is only available for Minnesota county agencies and tribes that carry cases in child welfare and/or child protection. You will need a Training Portal profile to access the course, and completion will be recorded in your training transcript.
