Individual study subjects
People who have direct contact or access to vulnerable adults and children are required to have a background study. The background study involves checking an individual’s name and/or fingerprints against criminal, government, and social services databases. These Minnesota statutes direct the background study process, including what different entities are required to initiate background studies.
A summary of the background study process can be found in the Background Studies Overview (PDF). Background study subjects access their notices and documents electronically in the Applicant Portal. For more information, see online access to updates and documents.
