Community Action Agencies provide local, state, federal and private resources to help individuals and families who have low incomes. These agencies offer a variety of services such as:

• Head Start
• Energy Assistance and Weatherization
• Job training and career development services
• Food and nutrition programs
• WIC and child care programs
• Emergency housing and financial assistance.

Community Action Agencies and 11 tribal governments work in partnership with other community services.

• MinnesotaHelp.info offers a comprehensive database of local community resources for consumers, caregivers and service providers.

• Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs serves veterans and their families by assisting them in securing state and federal benefits, and by providing programs and services relating to higher education, benefits, burial, claims, outreach and veterans preference.

• School and Summer Meal Programs administered by the Minnesota Department of Education provides school and community nutrition programs for Minnesota children and adults through local schools, child and adult care facilities, and summer food program sites. This includes the free and reduced-price school meal program as well as summer meal programs.

• Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritionally balanced meals, social contact and volunteer opportunities for older adults throughout Minnesota.

• U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs federal agency provides a broad range of programs and services for veterans and their families.

• WIC - Women, Infants and Children is a nutrition and breastfeeding program that helps young families eat well and be healthy.
