Play VideoWhat to Expect
In this series of eight modules, we’ll lay out effective approaches as you engage more and more with a changing patient population. You’ll learn how to integrate trauma and cultural considerations so you can move from being trauma-informed to trauma-responsive, particularly when working with Minnesota’s three largest ethnic minority people groups: Latino, Hmong, and Somali.
Who is this for?
Healthcare providers and professionals working with diverse populations who have experienced trauma.
What You'll Learn
In these modules, you’ll learn about the impact of power imbalances in healthcare and how to create culturally safe environments, how to ask effective questions through contextual interviewing, and how to use tools for self-assessment, self-reflection, and self-regulation. These skills will help you provide effective and sustaining care with more confidence.
In Each Module, You Will
Explore
trauma-responsive ways to care for individuals and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds–for effective and sustainable service.
Consider
cultural safety–keeping in mind patient needs, preferences, histories, and adaptive ways of engaging healthcare services.
