Waiver and AC Resources and MN–ITS Training

Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) offer free resources and MN–ITS training for enrolled MHCP Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver and Alternative Care (AC) program providers who bill for waiver and AC services. Providers bill for services using MN–ITS. MHCP provides these training sessions via webinar.

Learning objectives
Day 1: How to navigate the MHCP provider webpages to understand:
- Provider services and resources
- MHCP provider basics
- MHCP provider requirements
- MHCP connection with managed care organizations
- Coordination of benefits with other payers (third-party liability or other insurance, Medicare)
- Payment-related audits
- HCBS waiver and AC services provider manual
Day 2: How to use MN–ITS including:
- Manage your MN–ITS account
- Access your MN–ITS mailbox
- How to retrieve and read a remittance advice
- How to retrieve and read a service authorization letter
- Verify member eligibility
- Submit an 837P professional claim for waiver and AC services
- Check claim status
Dates and times
The Waiver and AC Resources and MN–ITS Training is a two-day training. Providers must attend both days consecutively to receive a certificate of completion for this training. The sessions will include time for a break. We will provide the same information on each of the following dates and times:
- June 2 – 3, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- June 16 – 17, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- July 28 – 29, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- Aug. 18 – 19, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- Sept. 8 – 9, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- Oct. 6 – 7, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- Nov. 3 – 4, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
- Dec. 8 – 9, 2026, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (two-day session)
Prerequisites

Before you attend the training:

You must have your MN–ITS username and password to access your MN–ITS account for this training. If you do not have a MN–ITS username or password, contact your organization’s MN–ITS administrator.

If your organization has not yet registered for MN–ITS, use your MN–ITS Welcome Letter to register and assign the delegated billing person a username and password before attending this training. Contact the MHCP Provider Resource Center if you need a copy of your letter.

Webinar information
You will receive email invitations within three business days before your scheduled training date at the email address you enter during the registration process. You will receive two separate email invitations, one for each day. You will need to use the correct invitation link to join on the appropriate day.

You will:
- Connect to the webinar from your own computer and do not need special hardware or software.
- Log in to the webinar with your full name that was entered during the registration process. By doing this, you will be automatically checked in for attendance. If you are not logged in with your full registered name, you will be asked to provide your information for attendance check-in.
- Communicate with presenters and others in the audience using the chat feature available as part of the webinar sessions.

Certificate of Completion of Training

As detailed in the HCBS Waiver and AC Training Requirements, an owner or managerial official must complete this training within six months of new enrollment. We will send a Certificate of Completion to the PRVLTR folder of the provider’s MN–ITS mailbox for the national provider identifier (NPI) or unique Minnesota provider identifier (UMPI) attendees used to register the training. Attendees must upload a copy of their certificate of completion in the Minnesota Provider Screening and Enrollment (MPSE) portal or by faxing it to 651-431-7493.
