Withdrawal Management Programs / Detoxification Programs
Detoxification programs are licensed under Minnesota Rules, parts 9530.6510 to 9530.6590 (Rule 32) to provide short-term care on a 24-hour-a-day basis for the purpose of detoxifying clients, coordinating access to a substance use disorder assessment, and providing referrals for substance use disorder treatment.
Withdrawal management programs are licensed under Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 245F, which are similar to detoxification program requirements but contain higher medical service standards to assist with more acute withdrawal and contain additional program service requirements to encourage all patients to enter programs for ongoing recovery.
A program may choose to be licensed as a detoxification program under Minnesota Rules, parts 9530.6510 to 9530.6590 (Rule 32) or as a withdrawal management program under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 245F. A program may also choose to be licensed concurrently under both Rule 32 and 245F.
