Choosing a nursing home
Paying for nursing home care
- If you need help paying for nursing home care, you can apply for Medical Assistance.
- If you have Medicare, call Medicare or your Medicare health plan to find out what it will pay for nursing home care.
- If you have long-term care insurance, contact your insurance company for coverage details.
Moving out of a nursing home
For help with services and supports so you can leave the nursing home:
- If Medical Assistance pays for your nursing home care, call your county or tribal office worker or health plan care coordinator.
- If Medical Assistance does not pay for your care, you can get help through the Return to Community service offered by the Senior LinkAge Line. Call the Senior LinkAge Line at 800-333-2433.
