Steps to renew your coverage
If you have Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, we must review your eligibility once a year to see whether you are still eligible. This process is called a renewal. When it is time to renew your coverage we will send you a notice explaining what to do.
When your renewal date is approaching, follow these steps.

Check eligibility requirements, know your renewal date and make sure your contact information is current so important time-sensitive material gets to you.

Watch for the circle in blue
Remember: “The circle in blue means it’s time to renew.” Watch your mail for an envelope with a blue dot. Once you receive it, get started right away.

How can I get help with my renewal form?
You can get help with completing your renewal form by:
- Calling or visiting a MNsure Certified Navigator. They can help answer your questions or help you fill out the renewal form.
- If you have Medical Assistance, contact your county or Tribal agency for help.
- If you have MinnesotaCare, or your household has both Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare, contact Health Care Consumer Support at 651-297-3862 or 800-657-3672.

- If we can automatically renew coverage for everyone in your household, we will send you a notice and an information summary.
- You must review the information summary to make sure all the information about you and your family is correct, and notify us if you have a change or correction to report.
If we cannot automatically renew coverage
- If we cannot automatically renew coverage for one or more people in your household, we will send a renewal form for you to complete, sign and return.
- You must return the form with needed proofs by the due date.
- When we get your completed renewal form, we will decide whether the people in your household who must renew their eligibility for Medical Assistance remain eligible for health care coverage.
