“Medical Assistance to me means living a healthy, fulfilling life.

“As a previous recipient of Medical Assistance, I would not have been able to afford health care coverage without it while I was in college pursuing a degree in higher education. I would have suffered kidney failure had I not had Medical Assistance during that time period.

“I believe that people who are currently benefitting from Medical Assistance may have previously contributed to those benefits through tax dollars, and program cuts mean they may lose medically necessary services if they become ill, which could ultimately contribute to unnecessary deaths.

“I have seen people scared of losing necessary medical benefits that support their livelihood.”
