Alexis is a Medical Assistance enrollee who uses available supports and services to learn how to become independent.

“Having assistance when I'm not able to support myself through health care means the world to me. I am grateful for a system that is willing to help those who need help. Being able to have access to medication I need without a fee definitely keeps my mentality going and keeps me optimistic of the hope of teaching myself on how to be independent.

“If I lost my Medicaid, I honestly would not be healthy anymore. I could see my mental health getting worse, and I wouldn't be able to get the disability services or support that I need to learn how to be independent and gain life skills.

“I am concerned that the community that is struggling already will become poorer and not able to take care of their family, child protection will become more involved, more children will be taken from families and law enforcement will be more strict.”
