Which benefits do you like the most about DHS?

Health care; pay; flexible scheduling; helping the people of Minnesota; accrued vacation/sick times; career opportunity and advancement; employee wellness; paid parental leave; continuing services.

Why are the benefits you chose above the most important to you?

Well the benefits package is quite nice especially for having a family or trying to start a family. There is good job security and it’s fulfilling. I like the fact that I can contribute to helping with the mental health crisis we are experiencing.

What about DHS’s benefits or culture helps you continue to work for DHS?

It’s hard to really put my fingers on any one or two things. But, after working in mental health for the DHS I get this real sense of belonging, like I know now that this is what I was meant to do. As far as the benefits go, well, that is just icing on the cake, and not the regular cheap icing but like that good whipped butter cream icing.

What would you tell a new employee or prospective candidate about a DHS job?

Getting in is the hard part, every day after that is a whole new world and adventure.

Do you have a specific or impactful memory while working at DHS?

Yes, I have my one special patient that I will never forget that I cared for here.

What are your hobbies/interests?

Hunting, fishing, camping, baseball, hockey, NASCAR, cooking, hiking and EATING!
