A brief Emergency Preparedness and Response report will highlight numerous state agencies' immediate priorities and strategies at the outset COVID-19, especially related to older adults. The report will identify common themes and challenges and discuss what the state and Minnesota communities have learned from the pandemic.

Minnesota was among ten states to participate in a learning collaborative to advance Multisector Plans for Aging (MPAs). More information can be found on the Age-Friendly Minnesota home page.
Rainbow Research was contracted to identify the gaps (design, outreach, participation, accessibility, collaboration) in the online needs based assessment survey designed by the state. Rainbow Research also analyzed the focus groups that were conducted around the state of Minnesota for the communities to share their experiences, needs and wants. The findings will show a snapshot of what is missing and what can be changed to make systems and communities more inclusive to make Minnesota a better place to grow old, not only for a few but for everyone.

As part of planning for Minnesota’s aging network, the eight topics below were identified, and a vision statement and a status check brief developed for each one. They were created following analysis of information from numerous sources—including: AAAs’ Area Plans and reports, Live Well at Home grants, MBA Dementia grants, strategic plans, conversations with managers and key state staff, and state and national-level reports and data on various subjects. These issue briefs will be used to inform statewide priorities public and private partners, councils, boards and state agencies.

Emergency Preparedness (PDF) - We will live in communities that are ready to keep us safe, connected, and autonomous before, during, and after a crisis—be it public health, weather, or other disaster.
