Tracy Crudo

Tracy Crudo, manager of the Workforce Development and Training Unit in the Child Safety and Permanency Division, joined the Department of Human Services in 2015. She manages the training and workforce development and delivery to approximately 2,000 county and tribal workers and supervisors who provide child protection, foster care and adoption services throughout the state. In addition, she works to provide pre-service and advanced skills training for families in the process of becoming licensed foster care providers. Crudo is most proud of her work in leading the division’s Professional Development Work Group, which was charged with implementing training system reform recommendations from the Governor’s Task Force on the Protection of Children. This group developed a new vision and framework for the transformation of child welfare training and development in the state.

Prior to her role at the department, Crudo was the director of Outreach at the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare at the University of Minnesota, School of Social Work. She managed events, publications, public policy initiatives and created professional development resources for the child welfare workforce. Crudo was also a public policy analyst and collaborative services coordinator at Chisago County Health and Human Services. Her direct practice work includes children’s mental health case management, juvenile corrections/diversion counseling and youth shelter work.

Crudo earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Minnesota, School of Social Work, and she is a licensed independent social worker.
