Age-Friendly MN Grants Program

Age-Friendly Minnesota (AFMN) Council, in cooperation with the MN Department of Human Services, launched the AFMN Grants Program in 2022 to help communities work on age-friendly projects and become better places for all Minnesotans to grow older. A total of $2.9 million is being invested through about 100 grants, which wrap up in mid-2024, to advance age-friendly communities’ efforts. See grant award announcements below for more detail about grantees and their work.

AFMN anticipates funding a second round of grants and issuing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) both for Technical Assistance Provider (TAP) and Community Grants in 2024.

  • TAP Grants are designed to make AFMN Community Grants more accessible to a wide range of applicants by providing needed support. TAP Grantees support communities and organizations who need assistance in applying for AFMN Community Grants and implementing various aspects of their grant-funded projects.

  • Community Grants support entities undertaking a wide-range of projects focused on making systems and environments more inclusive of all ages.

The AFMN Council is committed to making diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) the foundation of AFMN, including this grants program.

If you would like to ensure you stay updated on those funding opportunities, please email MN.DHS.AgeFriendlyMN@state.mn.us and ask to be added to the Age-Friendly MN list-serve, which provides monthly e-updates that will include information about AFMN Grants.
