Health care coverage
For people who are pregnant
Beginning July 1, 2022, pregnant people enrolled in Medical Assistance will have their health care coverage continue up to 12 months after the pregnancy ends. Coverage will continue even if they have changes that would usually cause Medical Assistance to end, like a new job with more income.
Information on this page describes eligibility rules for Medical Assistance (MA). It does not cover all program rules.

Sometimes we can pay the cost of the other insurance so you can keep that coverage.
Learn how other insurance could impact eligibilityWhat if I do not qualify and still need coverage?
You may qualify for MinnesotaCare. Or you may qualify for an advanced premium tax credit to help pay for insurance through Minnesota's health insurance marketplace, MNsure. The tax credit would help pay part or all of the health care premium.
Even if you do not qualify for MinnesotaCare or the tax credit, you can compare and purchase affordable health insurance. You cannot be denied coverage because you are pregnant.
