Report suspected maltreatment of a vulnerable adult to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) at 1-844-880-1574. Reports can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Each report received by MAARC is referred to the agency or agencies responsible for responding. The responsible agency depends on the relationship between the vulnerable adult and the person alleged to be responsible for the maltreatment. Questions about completed reports must be referred to the civil lead investigative agency responsible for responding.

  • Allegations involving hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living and home care agencies are referred to the Minnesota Department of Health, Office of Health Facility Complaints (OHFC), at 651-201-4201 or via email below. 
  • Allegations involving adult foster care, group homes or services licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) are referred to DHS Licensing Division at 651-431-6600 or via email below.
  • Allegations of self-neglect by a vulnerable adult or allegations that do not involve a facility or service are referred to the county or Tribal social services agency where the vulnerable adult is currently located.
