Types of nursing home care
Nursing home care in Minnesota can include short-term rehab or long-term care for people who need daily support. Resources are available to help you compare options and choose a nursing home for yourself or someone you care about.
Private pay
Some people use personal income and savings to pay for nursing facility care. Some costs may be covered by private long-term care insurance. This is called “private pay.” If you have Medicare, it may pay some costs for limited qualifying stays in a nursing facility. Medical Assistance (MA) or private insurance may also cover some of these costs.
Resource coordination service
Resource coordination helps people in a nursing home for 90 days or less move back home or into the community if they are not on Medical Assistance (MA) long-term care services.
Nursing facility choice checklist
Use this checklist to help you choose a nursing facility that accepts Medicare, and note that it does not apply to people receiving long-term care paid for Medical Assistance (MA).
