Health care coverage
How do I create or access my DHS health care account?
Starting June 27, 2026, people who apply for, or reapply for, Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare, or who need to view an existing MA or MinnesotaCare case online, will use a DHS health care account through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS).
You will use LoginMN to create and access your DHS health care account.
What can I do with my DHS health care account?
A DHS health care account allows you to:
- Apply or reapply for MA or MinnesotaCare online
- Review your notices.
- File an appeal.
- Assign a navigator.
How do I apply or reapply for MA or MinnesotaCare?
If you are applying for MA or MinnesotaCare for the first time, or reapplying, use your DHS health care account to complete your application online. You can also choose to submit a paper application.
How do I access my existing MA or MinnesotaCare case?
If you already have MA or MinnesotaCare, you can connect your existing case to your DHS health care account to view your health care information online. MNsure.org no longer shows information about MA or MinnesotaCare cases.
Before creating your DHS health care account, make sure you know who the application filer is.
Who is the application filer?
The application filer is the person listed in the “About you” section of the original health care application. This is the person whose information the system uses to connect an existing MA or MinnesotaCare case to a DHS health care account.
Only application filers can connect an existing MA or MinnesotaCare case to their DHS health care account.
The application filer might be:
- The person who completed the application.
- The person who manages the household’s benefits.
- The person who contacts DHS or their county servicing agency about the case.
- An authorized representative.
If you are not sure who the application filer is, your worker can only share this information with people who are already authorized on the case. This protects the privacy of the person who submitted the application.
To find the phone number for your county, Tribal agency, or Health Care Consumer Support, visit the Minnesota DHS Health Care "Contact us" page and select the button that best matches your situation (for example, "I'm already enrolled"). From there, you'll be directed to your agency's contact information.
