Minnesota continues to be one of top states for collecting child support

2/3/2022 4:29:54 PM

The Minnesota Department of Human Services Child Support Division recently released its 2021 Child Support Performance Report (PDF).

The report shows that during federal fiscal year (FFY) 2021, Minnesota’s child support program provided services to 314,332 parents and 220,345 children through 1,406 county and state workers. The program also collected and disbursed $551.4 million during 2021, meaning that for every $1 spent on Minnesota’s child support program, the program collected $3.09 in support of children.

Based on preliminary FFY 2021 data, the report shows that Minnesota, as a whole, continues to rank among the top five states nationally for the percentage of current, monthly child support collected.
