Nick serves as director of the Family and Children's Division at Stearns County Human Services.

“If we can intervene in families lives early, offer voluntary services and get them engaged, we're gonna have better outcomes … If we can get the families engaged early on with services, we're going to save significant dollars.”

“We have many children that we're working with in Stearns County right now where we will call 270 or 300 placements across the nation trying to seek placement and still not have a place for that child. One of the things that we found though is by interacting and engaging with the families early on, we can provide early intervention services and really reduce the traumatic impact. And that reduces the need for out-of-home placement.”

“I really am concerned that if this [Medicaid] is cut that there will be profound impacts. We're going to see extremely negative impacts for a system that is already extremely strained.”
