Keith-PiskurKeith Piskur

Keith is an advocate for the disability community who was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Medical Assistance helps him take care of his physical, social and mental health through support services that include homemaking, transportation, physical and occupational therapy, prescription drugs, orthotics, and adaptive and durable medical equipment, like his wheelchair, pressure-sore prevention tools, shower chair, and reaching- and grabbing-devices.

“I've had over 50 surgeries, many of which were paid for by Medicaid/Medical Assistance. Without it – honestly, cuts [to the program] scare me really badly because it's my life we're talking about. “

“If I did not have access … I'd be at risk for needing a higher level of care or even possibly kind of in a nursing facility which would greatly impact my health and could even cost more.”
